In Bozeman, Montana, a large moose surprised residents by walking through the town in late April 2026. The animal, which can weigh up to 1,600 pounds, was first seen by Alivia Ballenger, a student at Montana State University. She saw the moose near her home and was surprised by its size. She filmed the animal and shared the video with her father, Travis Ballenger, a real estate agent. He was selling the land where the moose was seen. He shared the video on his company's Facebook page, joking that the moose seemed to like the property. Later, the moose rested near the radio station KMMS-FM, known as The Moose 94.7 FM. The station staff filmed the moose and posted the video online. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials were aware of the moose but decided not to intervene because it was not causing any problems. An information officer, Morgan Jacobsen, said that moose sometimes wander into Bozeman, usually about once a year, but they do not stay long. The moose seen did not have antlers, which is normal for this time of year. By the next morning, the moose had left Bozeman, leaving behind memories and online videos.
