For years, Donald Trump made his fortune from physical assets like hotels and golf courses. However, a new financial report shows a major change. In 2025, his first year back as President, Trump earned between $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion from digital currency projects. This information comes from a detailed government disclosure. Digital money has now become his most profitable business, earning far more than his traditional properties.
For example, his Mar-a-Lago club earned about $77 million, and his Doral golf course made $122 million. Even all his golf and membership properties together, earning over $290 million, could not match his virtual ventures. His total income for the year exceeded $2 billion, largely thanks to blockchain technology.
A large part of this income came from a deal with "Celebration Coins," a company linked to his digital operation, CIC Digital LLC. This company created "meme coins" with his name and image. He launched this digital asset shortly before taking office in January 2025.
Another significant income source is World Liberty Financial. Trump started this digital currency company with his sons, Eric and Donald Jr., and partners. The company offers a digital token and a "stablecoin" meant to maintain a value of one dollar. Through this, Trump earned over $500 million from token sales and $65 million from selling parts of its parent company. He also made about $196 million selling shares in a related company called Stablecoin Holdco LLC.
This financial success happened as national policy changed. After becoming president, Trump moved away from a cautious approach to digital assets and supported industry-friendly regulations. The White House states that the president and his family have avoided conflicts of interest. Officials say Trump helped make the U.S. a leader in digital currency through new laws and actions.
