On stage in Taipei, Nvidia founder Jensen Huang announced the RTX Spark, a new chip designed to transform personal computers. For four decades, Intel and AMD have dominated the PC processor market, but Nvidia, which became the world's most valuable chipmaker through artificial intelligence, is entering the competition.
The RTX Spark is built with partners Microsoft and MediaTek, manufactured by TSMC using advanced 3-nanometer technology. It combines an Arm-based processor with 20 cores and an Nvidia Blackwell graphics chip with 6,144 CUDA cores. The device can run large language models with up to 120 billion parameters directly on the PC, without sending data to distant servers.
Huang's vision is clear: the PC should think for itself. The RTX Spark comes with new Windows security features and software called the OpenShell agent runtime, allowing AI agents to work on the computer itself.
Investors reacted immediately. Intel shares fell 6 percent and AMD dropped 5 percent following the announcement. Major manufacturers including ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft's Surface line have committed to building systems with the RTX Spark, launching in autumn 2026.
The price remains unannounced, but the Spark is positioned as a premium product. The global semiconductor industry is experiencing record growth, making this an ideal moment for Nvidia's expansion into personal computing.
