Europe and Australia Make Big Trade Deal
Europe and Australia are now friends in business. On March 24, they made a big trade deal. It took eight years to do this.
For eight years, the two places talked and talked. They had a problem with Prosecco. Prosecco is a wine from Italy. Australia wanted to make and sell Prosecco wine too. Europe said no. Now Australia can make Prosecco, but only sell it in Australia. This is good for both sides.
The deal is very good for trade. Europe took away ninety-nine percent of taxes on Australian goods. Australia took away ninety-eight percent of taxes on European goods. This means people can buy things more easily and for less money.
Australia has something Europe needs: lithium. Lithium is in batteries for cars. Electric cars use these batteries. Europe wants electric cars, so it needs lithium.
The United States puts big taxes on things. Europe is worried. So Europe wants to make new friends and trade deals. Australia is a good friend.
This deal is good news. It will help both places.
