For the eleventh night in a row, U.S. forces have bombed targets in Iran. President Donald Trump has threatened to attack a large underground facility in Iran, known as Pickaxe Mountain. This site is located more than 100 meters below the ground. The U.S. military has been attacking Iranian drone warehouses, command centers, and supply lines. Bombings have occurred in cities like Tehran and Tabriz. The Bidboland Gas Refinery in Khuzestan Province was damaged, and munitions also struck Larak Island.
In response, Iran launched missiles and drones at U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. The number of injured American soldiers has now passed 500. This conflict began after the 2025 Israel-Iran war, when bombs damaged Iran's main uranium enrichment site, Natanz. Reports suggest Iran moved enrichment machines to the unfinished Pickaxe Mountain facility.
Iranian officials deny having a secret nuclear program at the mountain. However, they have warned that an attack on their nuclear infrastructure would start a large regional war. The fighting has affected global trade, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil shipments. Iranian forces have attacked commercial ships, while the U.S. military has escorted hundreds of others. Oil prices have risen significantly.
The U.S. has spent billions on this conflict and is asking for more funding. A ceasefire brokered by Pakistan has failed. The Iranian Interior Minister is meeting with Pakistani officials to try and restart peace talks, and Qatar is working on a new peace agreement. However, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran does not seem serious about negotiations. President Trump also said the U.S. is not interested in meeting.
